A residential property in West London with a separate mews house in the back garden was to be extensively refurbished and extended to create a much larger single property.


E3 Consulting was appointed by the owner to review the plans
for the development and to advise on the correct VAT rate. We
identified that a minor reorganisation of the building work would
bring the project within the scope of the 5% VAT rate, and we
liaised with the architect and building contractors to ensure that
suppliers used the 5% rate on their invoices.


The owner saved approx £75,000 in VAT costs.
